TRENDING with JADE ALEXIS

I love fashion. To be frank, I’m a nicer person when I like my outfit. I move with a certain swagger that I just can’t seem to find when I look like a hot mess- probably because I’m looking for a hole to crawl into..

On the real tho- I do tend to get overwhelmed and I have found myself a few different times in life zigging when I should have zagged when it comes to pulling off the latest trend. Also, I’ve spent more than I should, a few different times.

I was talking to my super good friend Jade Alexis about this, which luckily for me and you, is the perfect person IMO that I could have brought this first world problem to. Jade Alexis is a wardrobe stylist, personal shopper, co-designer of local brand Lotus & Lime ( which will be going to NYFW in February 2022!!! ), former teen pop star from girl group No Secrets and this year, can now add costume designer to her resume.  Not to mention has a classic style herself!  To be frank, some of us are just born with that aesthetic intelligence, effortless cool vibe, and this is exactly how I would describe Jade.

*This interview was originally conducted in October!! Since I have been such a busy babe on a mish, I wasn’t able to put this blog together. However, after seeing all of Jade’s predictions come to fruition because the trends are very apparent and obvious now, but weren’t then- and finally running into her the other night, I really wanted to get this up and going*

Jade and I out supporting a new local restaurant recently

I asked Jade if she wouldn’t mind sharing a few seasonal/transitional pieces for my babes on a mish.. and that includes us Hawaii girls!

Me: Jade! SO happy to have you here! Thank you so much for your time-

We definitely are feeling a seasonal shift here in the islands- bigger waves on the north shore, rainy days, and north trade winds are all indications for us here in Hawaii that fall/winter is approaching- what are some transitional pieces for the local girls?

JA: I think oversized blazers has been a trend for a long time now, but I do think we're going to be seeing it a lot this fall and winter.  Maybe on people that have never worn them before or someone who has is wearing them in a new way.  It's a perfect layering piece day or night especially with crop tops and even shorts for our island girls.  I've personally always loved an oversized blazer with a bodycon dress for an evening out or a simple denim look and tank look with a blazer.  It's so classic and chic!

  • Another trend is sets!  A matching top with a skirt, a matching top with a pant or short.  A matching jacket with a pant or a dress!  I think we are going to see a lot more sets this year in solids and cool prints. I can't wait!

  • A huge Summer trend that took over this year was cut outs and I definitely think we're going to see more cut outs through out fall and into Holiday!

  • Lastly, pop color handbags.  A handbag in a bright or neutral color completely opposite of what you're wearing can really elevate any look.

OMGosh I had a blast putting this together! big MAHALO to Jade for coming on the blog and sharing your insights! As I type this, Jade’s brand that she co-designs with her beautiful mother, Lotus and Lime , is heading to NY FASHION WEEK!!!

Each piece is designed with every shape in mind, flattering on everyone-
