7 Daily Habits To A Healthy Life

7 healthy habits.JPEG

We all know there is less than 90 days left in this memorable year, if you didn’t realize that, there is. And by now, besides your feed and mind being littered with every political possible thing- there is the fitness world that will not let you wait til January.. after all this entire year has felt like a foggy extended Spring Break-isk affair.

Challenges are emerging from everywhere it seems- sober October- which I really actually like the sound of.. Boss October- another really good one..- a challenge put together by @lovesquad- a community founded by @missallylove a Peloton Instructor... Pilates Challenges, Paleo Challenges, - sign up here there and everywhere. And though I am always up for a damn good challenge.. I have my own habitats I stick to- my lifestyle, although it revolves around the tides, a spinning bike , and when I’ll be hitting the pavement next- I truly believe that these 7 daily habits to a healthy life have kept me steady on the course.

More than anything- living with COVID-19, means we all need to be living in a healthy way- so that in the very unfortunate event you do contract this virus- you will have the absolute BEST CHANCE- NO MATTER AGE OR RACE.

1. Say no thank you to one-size-fits-all diets.OR THE WORD DIET! It's a lifestyle that you want to achieve isn’t it? -I primarily like to follow a paleo-ish/mediterranean lifestyle. Mainly concentrating on the grain-free, sugar-free aspects.  I joke a lot on my instagram, about saving my carbs for beer or really good garlic bread.. And while that's true, to be frank, carbs got a bad wrap in the 90s. Everyone's body is so different. I find that grain free works best for my body. But at this point in my life- give me the fettucini when I crave it. I know you have heard this a hundred million times but it is so so true- it's called balance. There is no one size fits all-28 days to fabulousness diet- its consistency.  Have the dessert- who knows what tomorrow will bring. I find that I’m more of a dairy free girl these days and really dig on coconut ice cream.. But I’m not against  having a piece of cake- just not the entire thing.. Unless it's your birthday- then eat the whole damn thing. Which brings me to number 2...

2.)Seriously watch your sugar intake - Look I get it- I mean factually, it's the only thing humans are born craving. It wasn’t until probably about 5 or 6 years ago when I did my first real paleo challenge at my gym when I significantly cut out sugar. My main hook was the coffee mate I use to drink every morning- god what is that stuff anyway??I was never really a big soda fan, and I do like my desserts- but really being mindful of this white legally addicting substance that has America hooked, was one of the single best things  I did for myself- and my palette. When I have a sip of a soda or a bite of a Hershey's bar I feel like my teeth are gonna crack from the sweetness. Too much of this stuff could be holding you back from being the best healthiest you. Mentally and physically. Besides, it's bad for your skin. Again- moderation.. Have dessert, drink the soda when you're hungover, enjoy the holidays, but on the regular she ( as in sugar) can beat it- think of her as a frenemy- you love to hate her.

3.) Try mindful eating, even if just for a single bite. Sometimes- okay most of the time I’m just mindlessly shoveling food in my mouth. I mean duh, it's good- I’m eating it.. But to really be mindful is something else. Besides savouring every bite- I like to really look at my food and be so specific of the thought that it's actually fuel. I mean that is really the point. Mindful eating is turning attention to the senses- the sight, smell, feel, and taste of a food. Start small- take one mindful bite.Take your time letting it sit on your tongue, chewing slowly, allowing your taste buds to take it all in. That’s all you need to do. You might notice that the food tastes different when you actually allow yourself to taste it… which is why number 4 is so good too..

4.)I eat alot of veggies- though I am a hardcore carnivore without a doubt. Vegetables are rich in many important nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants. I feel like that's the basis of life's building blocks- so like, what up doc? ( that was a Bugz bunny reference- he always ate a carrot.. anyway..). Sure I can burnout on too many salads which is why I even started my summer salad series this summer- but veggies in any capacity- is something I deeply crave, on the regular. I eat eggs and zucchini, sauteed kale and eggs, I love red leaf lettuce and a grilled red bell pepper is one of my favs. If incorporating veggies is hard, riced cauliflower is really something to seriously think about. I love it, I even eat it with sauce instead of pasta, I put it in my salad.. It's so diverse and so easy to incorporate into any meal. Or there's always a tried and true green smoothie- here is one of my favs.

5.)Fruits- Fruit truly is the perfect food. It’s the easiest for our bodies to digest, and our system has to do almost nothing to break it down.  I started really eating fruit for breakfast at the start of summer- and honestly I haven't looked back. As most of you know I’m pretty obsessed with papaya- I like it alone with a squeeze of lemon, or bananas, orrr as of late my obsesh has taken me to add yogurt and Purely Elizabeths Grain Free Granola, however you do it- just do it. Papaya helps collagen growth, and bananas give you energy. I know it has sugar in it- but it's real sugar- essentially nature's candy. Any fruit will do - you can even make it savory too- if breaky isn’t your jam- click here for another fav- papaya and avocado salad.. Its tahhh diiie…

6.) UNsalted Nuts.- Yes UNsalted. Believe me, another palette changing moment is when you cut back on unnecessary salt. Besides that nuts are rich in protein and fiber- both keep you fuller longer. I always have some in my pantry and to say they were a staple when I was flying a lot is an understatement. Nuts are kinda my jam- I used to be pretty obsessive with almonds but I pretty much like’em all. A good on the go snack that adds texture and makes you feel good. Perfect for a Babe On A Mishhh.. Nothing fancy but these are delishhh

7.)I drink lots of water- and I make it boujee. There is nothing that has been more refreshing than making my cucumber mint water. I’m simply obsessed. Or even be as basic as lemon water.. Whatever you have to do to make it more appealing, do it. It's an age old tale but hunny it is tried and true. Water is good for you. Period.

And finally it was only in the last 3-4 years that I have truly limited my alcohol intake. And I’ve only been super micro on it this summer. I love wine, I do. Lately, I’ve been digging on a hard kombucha too, I love to get tipsy, giggly,  and think I am sexier than I am- which usually I’m far from it- I’m a hot mess when I’m too drunk. I’m not perfect, and I still have too much from time to time- and I live to regret it.

But the healthiest thing I have done - is limit my alcohol intake and really get a grip on it.

I worked in the service industry my entire life, and let's just say I definitely lived out my roaring 20s.. After time it just doesn’t feel good- or look good. Hair, nails, skin- look worn.. And that’s just what we can see. I’m not here to preach or say I’m high and mighty but a good 10 day stretch (of no alcohol) often- does a body- and a mind good.

I know none of this is “ground breaking” but it's what I do. AND I feel like your success in life is a sum of good habitats. It's my lifestyle. I eat dairy-free ice cream and pasta- Scones religiously on Sundays.. And I’ve never felt healthier. These 7 Daily Habits have helped me.

What's something you eat regularly or do that attributes to your overall health? I get on kicks but I am always down to switch it up- lmk below
